Shopping: Goya-Alcalá-Felipe II

The area around Avenida Felipe II, much of which is now a bustling pedestrian square, and the crossroads of Calle Alcalá and Calle Goya, two of the emblematic streets in Madrid, are home to one of the busiest and most varied shopping areas in the capital.

It is an area where distinguished shops, typical of this elegant area of Madrid, between the Salamanca and Ibiza neighbourhoods are intermingled with important national and international commercial references.

One of the major poles of attraction in this area is El Corte Inglés, which occupied two large buildings on both sides of Calle Goya. In the vicinity, there are numerous popular fashion and accessory firms and franchises: ZARA (Conde de Peñalver, 16), H&M (Conde de Peñalver, 14), Mango (Goya, 23, 79 and 81), Bershka (Conde de Peñalver, 4), Stradivarius (Alcalá, 161), Oysho (Narváez, 6), Springfield (Alcalá, 98), Sfera (Goya, 89), Salvador Bachiller (Alcalá, 151), Massimo Dutti (Goya, 85), Women’s Secret (Conde de Peñalver, 5), Parfois (Goya, 83), IKEA (Goya, 47), Intimissimi (Alcalá, 151), Trucco (Goya, 75), L'Occitane (Goya, 77) or Rituals (Goya, 73), Humana (Alcalá, 171), Hunkemöller, among many others.

Along with these usual references, we can also find more specialised or distinguished shops: jeweller’s of enormous prestige, such as Yanes (Goya, 27), Frank Muller (Goya, 6), Tous (Goya, 27), Durán (Goya, 19) or the new jewelry firm of the Suarez family Aristocrazy (Goya, 6-8); shoe shops like Lottusse (Goya, 6-8) or Antonio Parriego (Goya, 45) or icons of international haute couture, such as Prada (Goya, 4) or Pedro del Hierro (Alcalá, 157).

If we are looking for an idea for our senses, we can visit the Gourmet Experience area at El Corte Inglés which celebrated its tenth anniversary with a remodelling of its space offering more than 4,200 selected products in an area of 1,400 square metres. Joselito's (Velázquez, 30) is located in the central Calle Narváez, where everything related to the Iberian world and select seasonal products can be found. The hand-made soaps and cosmetics store, Lush (Alcalá, 104), the Carmen Kaiser (Claudio Coello, 37) exclusive perfumed candle stores, Torrijos Market (General Díaz Porlier, 8) or the technology and electronics store, Media Markt (Alcalá, 106).
