    Information

This bar and concert hall, located in the establishment that was a former coal yard, has been promoting and disseminating musical creation since 1979, making it an icon of what was known as the Madrid Movement. A cult place since the 1980s, La Vía Láctea boasts a plaque in recognition of its history on the façade of the building where it is located, granted by Madrid City Council in December 2021.

Some of the leading music stars from the 1980s and 1990s and DJs have performed at La Via Láctea, such as Kike Turmix, Diago A. Manrique, Juan de Pablos, Manolo Calderón, Samuel or José Castillo, who had collections that were hard to find in Spain.

It was also used to launch Madrid bands, such as Sex Museum, Pleausure Fuckers or Los Enemigos, and its regulars include famous people from the Madrid Movement, such as Pedro Almodóvar, Moncho Alpuente, García Alix or Ceesepe. International celebrities, such as Nico - the singer who inspired Andy Warhole’s Velvet Underground -, Johnny Thunders or Paul Collins, were seen there in the 1980s and 1990s.  To celebrate its 25th anniversary, La Via Láxtea hosted a performance by Nancy Sinatra, which was her first concert in Spain.

The establishment is divided into two floors, where you can dance, have a drink and chat.
