    Information

Founded in 1931, and located in Gran Via, it was the very first cocktail bar in Spain. Over the years, it has retained the best elements of its history, full of glamour and charm, without missing the train headed towards modernity, now seen in a stimulating light display that changes according to the time of day, and a booth with a DJ spinning the latest tunes.

In all other aspects, Museo Chicote, Madrid's undisputed cocktail temple, still looks the same as it did back in 1931. Those sofas were once sat on by Ava Gardner or Grace Kelly and the 1950s chrome metal chairs once graced the likes of Bette Davis or Frank Sinatra. The list of illustrious film, theatre, music and literary figures who have called in here is almost never-ending. Such was the fame of Chicote's cocktails.

The establishment has been run for more than a decade by the Mercado de la Reina Group, which is made up of a group of entrepreneurs who also run other establishments in the area: Mercado de la reina, Parrilla de la reina, both of which are on the Gran Vía and Diurno in Chueca.

Under its management, the kitchen at Museo Chicote has been modernised, offering a revamped snacks menu, in which Russian salad, creamy Iberian ham croquettes, carpaccio or Iberian game or king prawns and the Moorish chicken skewers stand out.

Furthermore, at weekends, it serves a full brunch from 1pm to 4pm, with music provided by a DJ.

Museo Chicote has also been used as a location for numerous films and television series.
