Welcome to Madrid

The Open de España, one of the most popular and most traditional competitions in Europe, will be held at the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid in October 2023. With the return of this tournament, which forms part of the European Tour, Madrid is once more at the centre of attention of professionals and golf fans alike, whereby golf has deep roots in Spain.

In 2019, the venue of the Open moved to the historic Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, where, like in 2018, victory went to the local idol, Jon Rahm from Spain, in a tournament that was once more a huge success with the public.

A historic course for a historic tournament campo

The Club de Campo Villa de Madrid is a historic course for the golf world, as names like Jack Nicklaus, Colin Montgomerie or Severiano Ballesteros have played there. By hosting the Open, it has consolidated its status and the city’s essential position in the international sporting calendar.

The Open de España, which has been held in our country since 1912, has formed part of the PGA European Tour since 1971 and is one of the oldest championships in the world.

It boasts such prestigious champions as Arnold Palmer, Severiano Ballesteros, Sergio García, Bernhard Langer, Nick Faldo or Jon Rahm.
