Welcome to Madrid

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has chosen Madrid to host the U19 Women's Basketball World Cup that will be held from 15 to 23 July in the towns of Alcalá de Henares and Torrejón de Ardoz with the big final at the WiZink Center.

A major international event that will be one of the main events in the year of the Centenary of the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) and which continues with the same commitment that initiated the Tenerife Female World Cup 2018, the Female European Cup  in Valencia 2021 and the U17 Male World Cup in Malaga 2022.

The Pabellón del Complejo Deportivo Espartales in Alcalá de Henares will host the matches from the first phase of a total of two groups, and will also be the venue for four matches from the Round of 32 and the matches to determine 9th to 16th places. The Pabellón Jorge Garbajosa in Torrejón de Ardoz will also host two groups from the first phase and four matches from the Round of 32. The WiZink Center will be the venue for the quarter-finals, semi-finals, third and fourth place play-offs, as well as the big final of this sporting event.

The 16 best female junior national sides will fight to obtain the world title before the Madrid fans. This competition reinforces the importance that Spain gives to basketball and is rounded off with a training event for young promises in this sport. The championship also reflects the commitment of Madrid City Council and the Community of Madrid to turn the city into a major sporting centre that hosts leading Spanish, European and international events.

After 13 editions, Spain holds three medals in the U19 Women's Basketball World Cup. It went up to the podium for the first time in Thailand 2009, with a well-deserved silver medal, having lost to the United States in the final. In 2011, it took away silver again in Chile. Finally, Spain won the bronze medal in Thailand in 2019.
