Welcome to Madrid

On 5 May, the Teatro Real is hosting the performance by Vicente Amigo, the unquestionable reference of flamenco guitar.  On this occasion, he will be on stage accompanied by first-rate musicians to perform his personal compositions that have made him a reference of flamenco guitar on today’s scene.

Born in Guadalcanal, Seville, in 1967, Vicente Amigo aligned his destiny with the guitar from childhood and found a way to live.  His musical career kicked off with the release of the albums: De mi corazón al aire (1991), Vivencias imaginadas (1995) or Poeta (1997), the latter with texts by Rafael Alberti. He reached the height of his fame in 2000 with Ciudad de las ideas, an album inspired by the poems of the Greek poet Constantin Cavafis, with which he won his first Grammy.

Other solo albums followed, such as Un momento en el sonido (2005), Paseo de Gracia (2009), Tierra (2013) or Memoria de los sentidos (2017), with which he won another Latin Grammy and he was nominated for an American Grammy.

Over the years, his music has always been open to the world and has constantly been revamped. He has worked with guitar greats, such as Paco de Lucía and Manolo Sanlúcar; with flamenco singers like Enrique Morente, Carmen Linares, Diego El Cigala, Miguel Poveda, El Pele, José Mercé or Estrella Morente; and with international stars like Sting, John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola or Alejandro Sanz.

Throughout his career, he has performed concerts in the main international theatres, such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Teatro Real in Madrid and the Liceo in Barcelona and in different venues in cities like London, Rome, Berlin, Paris, Tokyo or Peking.
