Welcome to Madrid

The ICO Museum, located alongside the Art Walk, was opened in 1996 and was initially intended for the exhibition of the Official Credit Institute’s 20th century Spanish art collections.

Since 2012, the ICO Foundation has resumed the exhibition line focusing on the field of architecture and urban development for its temporary exhibitions, revolving around three main themes:

• - The great figures of architecture, with exhibitions devoted to Marcel Breuer, Dominique Perrault, Pietilä, Ábalos & Herreros, Miguel Fisac and Alejandro de la Sota, Juan Navarro Baldeweg or David Chipperfield;

• - The role of architecture in response to the great challenges of modern society, with exhibitions like “Spain Mon Amour” or “The Architect is Present”;

• - Forming part of the PHotoEspaña Festival, architecture presented from the perspective of photography, with examples like “Building Worlds”, “Modern Photography and architecture in Spain, 1925-1965” or “Manolo Laguillo. Reason and City”.

Related to the temporary exhibitions, the ICO Museum develops guided visits  and other  educational activities aimed at children and young people. Furthermore, the ICO Museum is an open and inclusive space that aims to provide access to as many visitors as possible.  Therefore, in addition to the necessary resources for people with reduced mobility, the Museum has activities committed to the inclusion of different types of public.
