Welcome to Madrid

Located in the Latina quarter, it is one of the municipal markets in the area, more specifically in the Puerta del Ángel neighbourhood, close to the Paseo de Exrtremadura and Madrid Río. It is one of the last existing examples of civil architecture from the Second Republic. Its extensive gastronomic offer will surprise you: offal, Chinese food, vegan food, etc.

The building was constructed in 1932 in accordance with the design by the architect Luis Bellido, who was also responsible for Matadero de Madrid. It formed part of the Municipal Markets General Plan fostered by the Second Republic in order to provide supplies to the city. The building has a granite base and a brick exterior, with one storey inside. An interesting fact is that remains of shell impacts from the Civil War can be seen on its structure.

The complex is home to several fresh produce stalls at affordable prices, including butcher’s, fishmonger's, grocer’s, bakeries, fruit stalls, vegetable stalls, as well as a gastronomic space divided into different stalls. You can taste Greek, Mexican or Spanish dishes or even a variety of craft beers which you can eat and drink there, order as take away or even use the home delivery service.

Tirso de Molina Market has been partially refurbished recently,  as part of the comprehensive plan by Madrid City Council for the capital’s municipal markets in order to improve the facilities and services.
