Welcome to Madrid

In the heart of Chueca, this market is full of surprises and is well worth a visit. Although it originally dates back to the 19th century, after it was knocked down it was rebuilt in 2011 to create a modern building with areas to buy food and also restaurants. In 2021, it underwent refurbishment, revamping its image and incorporating new catering and commercial spaces, some of which are hugely successful, such as La Ancha, Hevia or Café Comercial.

The market is spread over three floors:

  • The first floor is devoted to the sale of perishable goods, as well as some spaces to have tapas, including La Barra del Comercial.

  • The second floor is made up of ten show cooking / take away stands, where the most traditional cuisine can be savoured, along with oriental and Italian proposals.

  • The third floor is home to the  11 Nudos Terraza Nordés restaurant-terrace, from the Osborne Group, which serves the best of the sea and land, dishes with clear Atlantic influences and the finest ingredients.

The Mercado de San Antón also represents a new model of sustainable market, in which the central skylight acts as a huge photovoltaic energy collector and the floor is made from molten basalt, an originally recycled material. There is also a collection system which reduces the volume of organic waste by 80%. The market has free Wi-Fi on all floors.
