Welcome to Madrid

Located in Chamberí, this athletics stadium, opened in August 2019, is set in an area of 29,589 square metres and was home to the previous stadium, demolished in 2007, for 46 years.  International competitions and promotion schools and the rest of the city’s municipal and federated competitions can be organised and held there.

The stadium has a 400-metre track and 8 lanes along with partially covered stands with capacity to seat 10,000 spectators. It has a covered training are of 75x12 metres, the hallmark of these new facilities as it is located on top of the stands and thanks to its peculiar architecture. The facilities re rounded off with access controls, offices, changing rooms, storerooms, technical rooms and toilets, a 110 metre sprint track with 9 lanes and 2 ends protruding from the ring, a “lane 10” in artificial grass on the exterior of the track, for long distance runners; and it is equipped with dual lanes for jumping competitions, throwing circles and other facilities for open-air athletics on an indoor natural grass field.

The Stadium has a Gate 0 (between Calle Jesús Maestro and Calle Melquíades Alvarez) to enter on an everyday basis, and for athletes and other organising staff on competition days. It will have a further 4 entrances (A – Calle Jesús Maestro / B – Calle Melquíades Álvarez / C – Calle Santander with Melquíades Álvaez and D – Calle Santander) to access the stands on competition days.
