    TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR WORKS

Loewe is a European company created in Spain with French capital by Enrique Loewe Roessberg from Germany, who set up a leather workshop in Calle del Lobo, which is now called Echegaray. Subsequently, he opened a shop to sell those products at Principe St.

In 1905 he became a Royal House supplier. He moved several times to different premises situated all in the same Gran Via area. and finally stayed for decades at Barquillo St. He has always worked on leather accessories, travelling personal effects and luxury bookbindings. Thus, he was  responsible for carrying this luxury market to the Salamanca neighbourhood in the 50’s.

In this store, it is also possible to contemplate a selection of pieces from its historic collections.  A small 20th century luxury museum whose visitors’ book is proof of how icons from cultural and social life and ambassadors of fashion and glamour, such as Ava Gardner, Deborah Kerr, Charlton Heston, Cary Grant, James Stewart, Margot Fonteyn and Maria Callas have passed through its doors.

Loewe has other stores in Madrid in Calle Serrano, 34; Serrano, 52 (El Corte Inglés, for men); Serrano, 47 (El Corte Inglés, for women); Raimundo Fernández Villaverde, 79 (El Corte Inglés Castellana); and Avenida de la Hispanidad, 1 (Adolfo Suárez Airport, T4)
