    Information

Located between the Prado Museum and the Botanical Gardens, the four fountains of the Prado (Las Fuentecillas) were part of the major renovation scheme for the Salón del Prado.

The fountains were part of the Salón del Prado urban project, a landscaped ornamental area flanked by various buildings dedicated to culture and scientific dissemination, promoted by King Charles III. Also linked to this initiative were sculptural creations such as the fountains of Cibeles, Neptune and Apollo, as well as the main building of the Prado Museum.

In 1996, the original sculptured fountains were replaced by replicas in epoxy resin, on account of their poor state of conservation. Currently, they are on display at the San Isidro Museum or Museum of Origins, located in the Plaza de San Andrés.
