Located on the outer wall of the municipal sports centre, La Concepción, in the district of Ciudad Lineal, this mural was painted in September 2018 by the Spanish artistic collective Unlogic Crew, a cry against gender-based violence through the representation of several women who, throughout history, have struggled to make women visible and give them a voice at the social, family and economic level, breaking barriers and becoming role models in the defence of women and equality.

With the slogan “Your gender doesn’t define your capabilities” the mural represents 15 women:

• Mexican activist Comandanta Ramona,

• African American activist Rosa Parks,

• The Spanish poet and rapper Gata Cattana,

• American singer, songwriter, and pianist Nina Simone,

• The Soviet sniper who fought the Nazis Liudmila Pavlichenko,

• American actress Emma Stone playing former tennis player Billie Jean King,

• Japanese journalist Kanno Sugako,

• Mexican painter and activist Frida Kahlo,

• Russian anarchist activist Emma Goldman,

• Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie,

• Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova,

• African American politician and activist Angela Davis,

• Spanish feminist activist Rosa Arauzo, a resident of Ciudad Lineal and advocate for women's equality,

• The Spanish anarchist,trade unionist militant and anti-Franco fighter Antònia Fontanillas Borràs,

• And the Guatemalan indigenous leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner Rigoberta Menchú

The proposal for the creation of this mural came from the Equality and Diversity Bureau, through the Permanent Commission of the Local Forum in the district of Ciudad Lineal, part of the Sharing Walls project promoted by Madrid’s Department of Culture and Sports. Following a public consultation organised on the municipal citizen participation portal ‘Decide Madrid’, the project was awarded to the Unlogic Crew. The local residents of this district also participated in the completion of the mural.
