Parque de Berlín
    Information

City park between Calle Ramón y Cajal, Calle Marcenado and Calle San Ernesto, which has been home to remnants of the Berlin Wall since November 1990. This park has pretty ornamental fountains and large wide-open spaces, children's play areas, and large swathes bushes and woodland.

There is also a monument to the German composer Ludwig von Beethoven, whose bust is placed on top of a piano sculpture made from granite by Quintana de la Serena, and a bear that represents the city of Berlin, as well as a small auditorium. The main fountain, located by the church of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, in the lowest part of the park, is dedicated to the Demolition of the Berlin Wall.

The park, created in 1967, is named for its proximity to the German School and for the scheduled visit to Madrid of the then Mayor of Berlin, Willy Brandt, which was set to take place in 1966, but eventually occurred in 1967. German residents of Madrid financed a monolith in honour of their city, which was placed in the park and which is still standing today, although the ceramic plate is not the original.
