Born in France, Puy du Fou is a new kind of theme park featuring spectacular history extravaganza shows. It is the recipient of numerous awards in both Europe and the USA. In 2019 a show inspired by the park opened in the Spanish city of Toledo offering a fascinating journey through the history of Spain.

Following the success of the past three seasons, a new season will open on 1 April 2023, converted into a huge live show park of more than 30 hectares, offering diverse entertainment proposals:

    • During the day, you will be able to enjoy six major shows (three indoor with air conditioning and three outdoor shows), inspired by historical events and Spanish legends: A pluma y espada, set in Toledo in 1592, in the midst of the Golden Age, with the writer, Lope de Vega, as one of its main characters;  El último cantar, which tells the tales of Rodrígo Díaz de Vivar, El Cid Campeador in 11th century Castile; Cetrería de Reyes, set in 939 in Marca Media, with Abderraman III and Count Fernán González of Castile vying for a truce with hundreds of birds of prey. In 2022, new spaces will be incorporated into the show: El Vagar de los Siglos, which brings visitors closer to the experiences of those anonymous heroes featured in History and who have shaped today’s Spain. In 2023, there will be a new show; El Pregón de la Puebla, in which the news of the kingdom is proclaimed with a bugle and drum; and Allende la mar oceána, in which the audience is immersed as a crew member on the Santa María in search of a new route to the Indies, in 1492.

    • The four themed villages can be visited to become more immersed in History: the Royal Village, the Andalusian Askar, La Venta de Isidro and El Arrabel, a medieval market at the feet of the great wall.

    • At sunset, it will be time to return to The Toledo Dream, the outdoor evening show that takes spectators through more than 1,500 years of History on a historic dramatised journey, with 200 actors and incredible special effects, ranging from the reign of King Recaredo I in the 6th century to the arrival of the railway, as well as the Navas de Tolosa battle or the discovery of America.

A number of shows are held throughout the day, each lasting approx. 30 minutes. They can each seat betweeen 1800 and 2000 people. The programme will be adapted depending on the number of spectators and on the current government guidelines in order to avoid queues and long waits.

In the four historic villages, there are several food outlets as well as craft workshops and boutiques with handmade, local, original and sustainable products. Furthermore, to cope with the heat of the Toledo summer, 15 fountains and water points have been installed throughout the park, as well as 4750 m2 of pergolas and awnings, and 80% of the paths have rest areas in the shade, benches and misting points.

The shows will have simultaneous translation in English and French via a smartphone thanks to the park’s free app. The entire venue offers free Wi-Fi.

Puy du Fou España is the park that has won the most awards ever in its first year of opening, having won 9 awards, including the World’s Best Show for “El Último Cantar” (awarded by the IAAPA, International Association of of Amusement Parks and Attractions), the Most Innovative Park in Spain (Remarkable Venue Awards), Best Park in Spain (PACAWARDS), Best Show in Europe for “The Toledo Dream” (PARKSMANIA AWARDS) and Award for the Protagonists of Education (MAGISTERIO AWARDS).
