    Information

The exhibition curated by María Inés Rodríguez brings together a selection of around 150 works by the artist, covering her career of almost sixty years. Pioneer of pop art, Beatriz González is considered to be one of the most influential figures on the Colombian scene.

Her work is inspired by the mass media, which is placed in line with popular narratives through painting. She also uses photographs published in the press to reinterpret them through drawing, painting, graphics and sculpture.

Beatriz González was born in Bucaramanga, Colombia, in 1938. She occupies a predominant place in Latin American art and she has become a leading chronicler of recent Colombian history.

Her most recent exhibitions include El segundo original (2016) at the La Tertulia Museum in Cali; The World Goes Pop (2015) at the Tate Modern Gallery in London; or Transmissions: Art in Eastern Europe and Latin America, 1960-1980 (2015) at the New York MoMA. At the same time, she has worked hard as an art curator.
