Cerebro(s) - Greg Dunn and Brian Edwards. Self Reflected, 2014-2016
    Information

From 22 December to 11 June 2023, Espacio Fundación Telefónica will be hosting an exhibition entitled Cerebro(s)/Brain(s), which explores how art, science, and philosophy have represented this organ over the years. Offering the public details about its anatomy and everything it creates, such as consciousness, abstract thought, language, imagination, dreams, and memory. The exhibition also explores artificial intelligence, animals and collectives, and organisms that have no brain at all.

Curated by physicist and biologist Ricard Solé and Emily Sargent, curator of the Wellcome Collection in London, it will feature over 300 pieces including immersive contemporary art installations, pieces from historical collections, and scientific research findings that will be combined with the perspectives of current artists such as Leonardo Torres Quevedo and Lady Ada Lovelace. The exhibition is a co-production between Fundación Telefónica, the Wellcome Collection in London and the Centre for Contemporary Culture in Barcelona.

Why do brains exist? Where does consciousness come from? What about creativity? What happens when the mind gets sick? Can intelligent machines be created? All your questions about the most complex of all organs will be answered at this interesting exhibition taking place in Espacio Fundación Telefónica this winter.
