    Information

The Madrid Luxury District (MLD) project presents the second edition of Madrid Luxury Art that brings together the best Ibero-American contemporary art showcased through a circuit of 12 urban scale sculptures exhibited throughout Madrid’s Golden Mile. This initiative is part of the Madrid Fashion Capital programme that will occupy the streets of Calle Serrano and Calle José Ortega y Gasset from 16 February onwards.

Madrid Luxury District, in collaboration with Madrid City Council’s Department of Economy, Innovation, and Employment and the local councillor’s office for the Salamanca district, is launching the second edition of this exhibition that highlights the relationship between fashion, design, and art.

It includes a circuit of twelve urban scale sculptures created by leading Ibero-American sculptors, from private collections, from the workshops of the best artists, and from major international galleries such as Marlborough, Fernando Pradilla, La Cometa, El Museo, Gärna Art Gallery, Luisa Pita, Fundación Botero, and Galería Freites.

This exhibition invites members of the public to explore the diverse perspectives of contemporary art, under the slogan The Human Condition and its place in the universe, curated by the Venezuelan Maria Luz Cárdenas, which will be part of the Guest programme at ARCOmadrid 2023.

The Madrid Luxury Art circuit begins in Ortega y Gasset street, by Núñez de Balboa, with the work of artist Manolo Valdés, a renowned Spanish painter and sculptor living in New York whose form of artistic expression fuses political and social commitment with humour and irony.

The circuit continues with other pieces located by the entrance to the Edificio Beatriz building where the piece by Jaume Plensa called Tel Aviv Man is located, made from die-cut steel, standing almost 2 metres high. On the corner of Velázquez and Ortega y Gasset streets, you can also see the work of the Spanish artist David Rodríguez Caballero, a sculpture standing more than 5 metres high.

The circuit comes to a close at the Rosewood Villa Magna hotel, which houses the piece entitled Enroscada Roja by artist Diego Canogar. Within the urban circuit, other artists such as David Rodríguez Caballero, Rafael Barrios, Sydia Reyes, Ricardo Cárdenas, Odnoder, Carlos Medina, Baltasar Lobo and Diego Canogar, among others, will also exhibit their works.
